Recursive Routing

Recursive routing problems can occur with tunnel or overlay networks.

If a router tries to reach a remote routers encapsulating interface via a tunnel (overlay) network, a connectivity issue will occur.

Recursive routing problems can be prevented by not allowing the tunnel endpoint IP address from being advertised over the tunnel network.
